"Chol Chnam Thmay" means "new year" (according to calendar of Buddhism). This is the largest festival in a year of Khmer people which often takes place in April of calendar year (at the beginning the Chet month of Khmer people). The festival lasts for 3 days with the meaning of greeting a new year. Besides, the festival also marks the end of the dry period and the start of the water season in order to prepare for a new crop.
