Ham Rong Tourist Site

 

 

Viewing from a distance, Ham Rong looks like a dragon flying among the white clouds. There exist many legends of this mountain, one of which has it that the mountain is formerly a lost dragon that can never come back to its heaven home. With original marvelous landscape, Ham Rong Mountain will surely attract visitors. The path leading to the mountain is covered with plum, peach and apricot trees. The most appealing feature of this site is flowers with all kinds and colors. Here you can observe more than 300 species of orchids blooming profusely. The nature has given much favor to this small town when providing it such species of flowers. Standing on the Ham Rong Mountain, you will have chance to satisfactorily observe the overview landscape of Sapa. The sinuous small roads leading to scarped villages. Higher on the Hoang Lien mountain range is the Fansipan looming in the clouds.

 

Fansipan Mountain

 

 

Fansipan is the highest mount peak in Vietnam and also the highest in the three Indo-Chinese countries. The mountain has a multiform flora system with certain species in specific height. For examples, at less than 700 meters high is the tropical belt with dense primitive forest and interlace liana species.From 700 meters above are gymnosperms belt such as fokienia hodginsii trees of hundreds years old which are 50-60 meter high. From 2.800 meter above, the ground is covered with short bamboo bushes along with several species like roses and goldthread trees.

 

Fansifan has become the destination of many mountain climbers. Tourists who are interested in adventurous activities can take part in a tour organized either by travel agencies or by yourselves with the help of some natives tour guides. Normally, it will take you from three or four day to complete the tour depending on your effort. You will surely be satisfied once reaching the top of Fansipan. Before joining in the activity, you should prepare suitable clothes and shoes, do take along your raincoat and some sweet candy since they are all useful for the journey. The most suitable time for this trip is from September to March of next year.

 

Sapa Ancient Rock Field

 

Sapa Ancient Rock Field is situated in Muong Hoa Valley, about 8 km to the southeast of Sapa town. This is considered a heritage of ancient Viet people including sculptured rock fields scatteredly allocated on terraced fields in the village of Pho people.

 

This ancient rock field is discovered in 1925. Up to now, there have been many explanations on this site provided by scientists. However, they are just hypothesis and Sapa ancient rock field still remain a mysterious attraction to both scientists and visitors. In October 1994, the ancient rock field was recognized as a national historical and cultural heritage by Ministry of culture and information. Currently, the State is proposed UNESCO to recognize this site as a world cultural heritage.
